The new era's circular economy center

"Tehdassaari will be developed as a hub for the circular economy, combining the industrial environment, biodiversity, eco-social well-being, and the services and facilities of the sharing economy."

New era's factory Island
as a circular economy center

A new era has begun in Tehdassaari: through holistic spatial development, ecological construction, renewable energy, and social impact, the area is becoming a model for sustainable development and the circular economy. The island will provide new jobs, offices, small industries, hobbies, services, culture, and events.

The central location and scenic landscapes of Tehdassaari, combined with the area’s colorful history and future uses, make it a stimulating learning environment, an atmospheric meeting place, and a valuable milieu for businesses.

Cultural history
from the turn of the 20th century

Tehdassaari is a landscape area of national importance in the Pirkanmaa regional plan and is a core area of archaeological heritage. The factory island is located along the Nokianvirta river at Souranderintie 2.

Tehdassaari is a nationally and even internationally significant industrial heritage site – an example of a manufacturing settlement in a rural area. The cultural and historic buildings on the site were built in the mid-20th century.
